Innovative company that later became known as Silkolene was created in 1908 and was the vision of the enterprising Dalton family. Although William Dalton's business started in agriculture, his true inspiration led him to supply lubricants to the growing automotive market. The early 20th century brought excitement to Britain and the length and breadth of the world as early cars and motorcycles became the focus of attention. Dalton's business literally moved to grease as the internal combustion engine took over from horses to transport goods and people.
